Fine pair of early 19th century portraits, oil on canvas, which are believed to be of two sisters. These beautiful and charming portraits were undoubtedly painted by a very talented Victorian artist (paintings unsigned). The attention to detail in the faces, hair and dresses is outstanding.The paintings have been relined and have craquelure to the surface, which is stable. There is a small area of over-painting to each chest area.Please note: there is a pin-head loss of paint above the dark haired girl's head, which would be easily rectified by a professional.Both frames are in excellent condition, they just require hanging wire.Both paintings measure 16" x 14" framed.
